What it’s about. Der Einstieg des Films ist der Überfall eines Drachentöters auf die durch eine verschneite Landschaft streifende, junge, weibliche Hauptfigur Sintel. Bei dem Überfall scheint sie ihrem Angreifer hoffnungslos unterlegen, kann jedoch seinen Speerattacken ausweichen und ihn mit ihrem Messer verwunden, wodurch er seinen Speer fallen lässt. Als er ungestüm auf sie zuläuft kann sie den Speer aufrichten, wodurch er ihn sich selbst in den Bauch rammt und tot umfällt. Sintel ist jedoch durch die Strapazen und den Überfall so geschwächt, dass sie nach einigen Schritten erschöpft im Schnee liegen bleibt und bewusstlos wird.
