What it’s about. Danny (Michael O'Keefe) ist erfolgreich in der Schule und vermeintlich glücklich in der Familie. Er trifft das Mädchen Rebecca, das ihn in die «Homeland»-Sekte einführt. Hier leben junge Menschen unter der Führung eines «Meisters» (Peter Fonda). Danny wird Opfer einer regelrechten Gehirnwäsche: Er übernimmt schließlich die Homeland-Ideologie. Seine Eltern haben mittlerweile einen auf diese Fälle spezialisierten Entführer (James Wood) angeheuert, der ihren Sohn aus den Klauen der verblendeten Fanatiker befreien und ihn wieder «umprogrammieren» soll. Es kommt zum dramatischen Kampf um Dannys Seelenheil…Regisseur Ted Kotcheff warnt vor den Machenschaften von Jugendsekten. Die eigentliche Stärke seines Films jedoch besteht darin, aufzuzeigen, welche Lebensumstände dazu führen, daß junge Menschen sich fragwürdigen Ideologien verschreiben.
