What it’s about. Cathryn (Susannah York), Autorin phantastischer Kinderbücher und etwas emotionsarm verheiratet mit dem Geschäftsmann Hugh (Rene Auberjonois), bekommt eines Abend seltsame Anrufe, die ihr einreden, ihr Mann hätte ein Verhältnis. Tatsächlich scheint sie eine Art von Wahnvorstellungen zu haben, denn statt ihre Mannes sieht sie hin und wieder ihren toten Liebhaber Rene (Marcel Bozzufi). Auch ein Urlaub in einem weit entlegenen Landhaus bringt keine Besserung, vor allem als sie dort ihren Freund Marcel und deren Tochter Susannah antreffen. Immer mehr verstrickt sich Cathryn in dem Wirrwarr aus Wahn und Wirklichkeit, diskutiert mit mehreren eingebildeten Männern, begegnet sich schließlich selbst. Und das führt letztendlich zur Katastrophe...
