Released in 1969, Banditen auf dem Mond is a science-fiction film directed by Roy Ward Baker, running about 101 minutes. “The first moon "western"...” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. Der frühere Astronaut Capt. William "Bill" Kemp ist mittlerweile ins Transportgeschäft gewechselt. Mit seiner Transportraumfähre "Moon Zero Two" hält er sich gerade mal so geschäftlich über Wasser. Deshalb zögert Bill auch nicht lange, als der Millionär und Unternehmer J. J. Hubbard ihn anheuert um einen Asteroiden zu bergen. Dieser dann anschließend in einer Mondumlaufbahn zu "geparkt" werden. Nach einer Zwischenlandung auf dem Mond wird Bill allerdings klar, das sein Auftraggeber sich den aus Saphir bestehen Asteroiden unter dem Nagel reissen will und dafür auch über Leichen geht.
