What it’s about. Die Kinderpsychologin Mary lebt seit dem Tod ihres Mannes zurückgezogen in einem ländlichen Teil von Neuengland fern der Zivilisation und kümmert sich aufopferungsvoll um ihren Sohn der seit einem Autounfall komplett gelähmt und deshalb pflegebedürftig ist. Ihr einziger Kontakt ist ihr Kollege Dr. Wilson mit dem sie gelegentliche Videochats führt. Als sie sich dazu entschließt, den Waisenjungen Tom bei sich zu Hause aufzunehmen, scheint sich endlich etwas Positives in ihrem Leben zu tun. Aber noch am ersten Abend verschwindet Tom, als ausgerechnet ein gefährlicher Schneesturm wütet. Fortan wird Mary zunehmend von Schlafproblemen und Albträumen heimgesucht. Nur wenig später geschehen seltsame und furchteinflößende Dinge in Marys Haus. Ob Tom wirklich tot ist?
