Bekannt wurde er durch seine Rollen als Matthew Kimble in „The New Adventures of Old Christine“, Porter Collins in „The Big Short“ und Clark Debussy in „Legion“. Er ist der Sohn der Schauspiellehrerin Kristin Linklater. 2021 spielte er die Rolle des Pater Paul in der Netflix-Horror-Miniserie „Midnight Mass“, für die er von der Kritik hoch gelobt wurde.
