Boycott poster

Released in 1930, Boycott is a drama film directed by Robert Land, running about 75 minutes.

What it’s about. A film about the pupils of a posh Berlin gymnasium in their final term (Ober-Primaner = pupils of the Upper First) and their class teacher/mentor/confessor teaching them about humanism and tolerance, a lesson that would be badly needed three years later. The teacher is this time not played by Jannings but by the equally great Theodor Loos. The illustrious father of one pupil is imprisoned because of embezzlement, the boy's step-mother remains quite unmoved. I liked this a lot, script, cinematography, Berlin locations, the Weimar style all over ...

Who’s in it. Boycott stars Lil Dagover as Frau von Generaldirektor Haller, Ernst Stahl-Nachbaur as Generaldirektor Haller, Rolf von Goth as Erich - der Sohn von Haller, Oberprimaner and Wolfgang Zilzer as Möller, Oberprimaner.

How it landed. With an audience score of 6.4/10, Boycott has drawn a solid, mixed-to-positive response.
