Released in 2016, Shin Godzilla is an action, horror and science fiction film directed by Hideaki Anno, running about 120 minutes. “Reality (Japan) vs. Fiction (Godzilla)” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. When a massive, gilled monster emerges from the deep and tears through the city, the government scrambles to save its citizens. A rag-tag team of volunteers cuts through a web of red tape to uncover the monster's weakness and its mysterious ties to a foreign superpower. But time is not on their side - the greatest catastrophe to ever befall the world is about to evolve right before their very eyes.

Shin Godzilla stars Hiroki Hasegawa as Rando Yaguchi : Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yutaka Takenouchi as Hideki Akasaka : Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, Satomi Ishihara as Kayoko Ann Patterson : US special envoy and Kengo Kora as Yusuke Shimura : Secretary of Rando, among others.

How it landed. With an audience score of 7.1/10, Shin Godzilla has been warmly received by audiences. It went on to earn $77.9M at the box office.
