Malgré sa répugnance, Édith accepte. Mais elle regagne au jeu la somme escroquée... Ce film est un remake du film de Cecil B. De Mille « The Cheat » (1915) et un de ces grands succès qui décidèrent quelques cinéastes en herbe français à se lancer définitivement dans la carrière cinématographique.
